The Aquarium of the Lakes in the Lake District; country house, Brockhole; the World of Beatrix Potter and Windermere Lake Cruises have teamed up with supermarket, Somerfield, to try and persuade people back to the Lakes after foot and mouth. The promotion offers discounts for shoppers at all four attractions and is being trialled in Blackpool, Poulten-le-Fylde, Bamber Bridge and Standish. Marketing manager of Aquarium of the Lakes, Cathy Burrows, hopes this will be the start of an ongoing relationship with Somerfield: By joining together in a consortium our individual attractions, which alone would be unable to approach large retail organisations like Somerfield, can offer them a highly attractive package for their customers.
