Parques Reunidos behind plans to bring first Nickelodeon FECs to Europe
POSTED 15 Mar 2016 . BY Tom Anstey
Parques Reunidos says the deal is just the first step as the company aims to expand with further deals for FECs in leading shopping malls across Europe
Viacom is teaming up with Parques Reunidos to bring the first Nickelodeon FECs to Europe, with the first of these opening in Spain in 2017.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) – a division within Viacom – is managing the venture, which expands the existing partnership between the two companies following the success of Nickelodeon Land at Parque de Atracciones in Madrid and NickLand at Germany’s Movie Park.

The first FEC, coming to Murcia’s Centro Comercial Thader shopping mall, will cover 34,000sq ft (3,160sq m) and will feature interactive activities, an adventure zone, a dedicated space for younger members of the family and Nickelodeon-themed rooms. Additionally the centre will have a dedicated food and beverage area, plus a retail space.

Parques Reunidos says the deal is just the first step as the company aims to expand with further deals for FECs in leading shopping malls across Europe. According to Nickelodeon, the FECs will feature some of the brand’s most popular IPs, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Fairly OddParents.

“Our goal at Nickelodeon is to be everywhere kids are, and we’re excited to diversify our portfolio to bring the Nickelodeon brand and characters to life through these new family entertainment centres,” said Gerald Raines, senior vice president of global recreation for VIMN.

“Parques Reunidos has been a great partner and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship to create another great entertainment experience for families in Europe.”
