The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown, South Africa, has opened it’s a new exhibition called Science in the South.
The Science of the South exhibition focuses on the four largest challenges for sustainable development – food security, health, prevention of climate catastrophes and human cohabitation on earth – through a range of multimedia and interactives.
Commissioned by the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the exhibition was designed and built by the Institute of Research for Development (IRD).
The exhibition was a gift from the government of France, and was officially opened by France’s South African ambassador Denis Pietton.
The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, was initiated by the Gauteng Department of Education and private sector representatives and aims to support education in mathematics, science and technology to improve public engagement with science and technology.
The centre will undergo a development programme in July, and will temporarily close before opening in August.
