New attractions for SeaWorld Orlando
POSTED 24 Nov 2011 . BY Pete Hayman
SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment has announced details of three new attractions which are to be unveiled at SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove in Florida, US, in 2012 and 2013.

New additions will include TurtleTrek, which will open at SeaWorld Orlando in the first half of 2012 and will allow guests to visit two large naturalistic habits.

One of the habitats will house freshwater fish and manatees and the second us to house more than 1,500 saltwater fish and 12 turtles. Many of the turtles and manatees have been rescued.

After moving on from the habitats, TurtleTrek will feature a 3D, 360-degree domed cinematic experience showcasing the journey of a sea turtle.

Meanwhile, the tropical all-inclusive Discovery Cove resort is set to launch Freshwater Oasis during the first half of 2012, which will include swimming and wading adventures.

Discovery Cove already enables guests to swim with dolphins, hand-feed tropical birds and snorkel among thousands of fish, with Freshwater Oasis to present a new experience.

A third opening, which is due to take place at SeaWorld Orlando in the first half of 2013, will see the addition of Antarctica - Empire of the Penguin.

The experience will see guests 'travel' to the Antarctic continent and experience life through the eyes of a penguin, complete with interactive ride technologies.

Terry Prather, president of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment's Orlando parks, said: "With TurtleTrek at SeaWorld Orlando and Freshwater Oasis at Discovery Cove, travellers will have all new reasons to visit Orlando.

"Only SeaWorld and its parks can take you on these journeys or bring these experiences to you. We're excited about what the future holds for our parks and our fans."
