The world's longest rollercoaster at sea will be included in an on board theme park on Dream Cruises' new Global Dream ship, due to launch in early 2021.

Space Cruiser will be the highlight of the "Dream Park at the Pier" theme park on the ship, which will be the first of Dream Cruises' new Global Class of ships. The ride is being developed by Maurer Rides and will feature three Spike carts, each for up to two riders in inline seats, and with an integrated throttle that allows riders to control their speed along the 300-metre (980-foot) track.

"Outfitted with powerful electric motors and positive-locking drive system, the coaster defies the physical limits experienced by conventional rollercoasters," said Marco Hartwig, project manager at Maurer Rides, "thus allowing acceleration over 1g almost everywhere on the 300-metre track."

The theme park is also due to include attractions such as a bouncy activity park, trampoline park, surf simulator, bungee and human gyro experiences and rides for younger children.

Global Dream is currently under construction in Germany. Designed for Asia's rapidly growing cruise market, its amenities will also include a Cineplex, Asian and Western spas, authentic Asian and international dining experiences, and shopping. Some 2,500 two-person cabins will be augmented by 151 luxury suites as part of Dream Cruises' "The Palace" ship-within-a-ship concept.

Michael Goh, president of Dream Cruises, commented: "As part of our commitment to develop the most technologically advanced cruise ships in the world, the newly constructed Global Class ships will dazzle guests with cutting edge features and facilities that will optimise convenience for our passengers and also provide innovative leisure, entertainment and recreation options to appeal to a broad range of guests."
