The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, UK, has unveiled a new exhibition called AmaZonia.

The £250,000 attraction is an extension of the tropical theme introduced at the centre last year, which invites visitors to step into the heart of a recreated jungle featuring dense foliage, the calls of exotic birds and a thick tropical mist.

AmaZonia showcases creatures such as the razor-toothed piranha, which can reduce an animal the size of a pig to a mere skeleton in minutes.

New residents also include freshwater stingrays, an electric eel and deadly poison dart frogs plus a jungle otter sanctuary.

Sea Life Centre general manager Ian Crabbe said: “AmaZonia maintains our policy of introducing a new attraction each year to continually improve our displays and provide a strong incentive for people to come back again and again.”
