The National Museums of Scotland (NMS) has announced its intentions to permanently open its doors and let the public discover its previously unseen collection, which is currently stored in warehouses around Edinburgh.
Containing more than three million objects from across the globe, the collection will be made available following a £4.6m, two-year upgrade.
Preliminary work on a new £2m building at Granton will begin by the end of the year and the new complex is expected to open by 2007. Details: www.nms.ac.uk
