A museum has been planned for the overdue US$3bn Grand Avenue project in Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Downtown News, the Grand Avenue Authority said in a public meeting that a car park adjacent to the REDCAT Theatre would become home to a museum housing the Eli Broad Foundation’s art collection. However, no cost or timeline has been discussed.
Construction is yet to begin on the Grand Avenue project, which was designed by architect Frank Gehry to be similar to Central Park in New York or the Champs-Elysees in Paris.
Officials have said that they are waiting for the global credit markets to recover before they attempt to secure a US$700m construction loan to begin the first phase of development.
