Marwell Zoological Park in Winchester, Hampshire, has unveiled its new Australian Bush Walk and Encounter Village.
Following a makeover, the park’s existing Encounter Village has been given an Australian theme and features animals from Oz in a walk-through experience. The village is also home to South American Golden Lion Tamarins, which are endangered in the wild.
The Australian Bush Walk features wallabies and kookaburras in a natural setting, without barriers or netting.
The new attractions are part of a long-term strategy to lay the park out in a series of Eden Project-style biomes and will form the basis of the Australian section.
The zoo is owned and operated by the Marwell Preservation Trust.
