Image: MA promoted 'dynamic' use of collectionsThe Museums Association (MA) has published its final evaluation of a five-year collections programme, which comprised 34 full-phase projects across more than 100 UK museums.
Effective Collections - a landmark initiative funded with grant support from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation - aimed to help institutions make "more dynamic use" of existing collections.
MA's
Effective Collections: Achievements and legacy report incorporates feedback from individual participants and surveys, which examines the changes in practice and attitudes.
The study found that the 34 projects had a greater impact than originally planned, while feedback also uncovered increased confidence in championing change at their museums.
A new Effective Collections learning hub has now been established by MA in order to share advice and resource with other sites looking to review, loan or dispose of collections.
