Western Europe’s tallest skyscraper, the Shard, has been evacuated as firefighters investigate reports of smoke in the building’s basement.
Seven fire engines and 50 firefighters were sent to 310m (1,016ft), 87 storey building in London at 10:30 BST.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed it was investigating reports of smoke in the basement, but said there was no suggestion of a fire.
Around 900 people were evacuated from the building, which includes a hotel and also operates as a tourist attraction.
LFB tweeted that the smoke appeared to be dissipating, while The Shard tweeted emergency services were responding to a fire alarm in the building and that evacuation procedures had been followed accordingly.
