Lightwater Valley theme park unveils £1m Angry Birds attraction
POSTED 28 May 2013 . BY Tom Walker
Lightwater Valley theme park in Yorkshire has launched a new Angry Birds attraction - the largest in the UK.

Covering more than 30,000sq ft, the £1m facility includes indoor and outdoor play areas. The attraction was designed and supplied by the UK arm of Finland-based play equipment group Lappset.

Lappset teamed up with Finnish mobile game developer Rovio Entertainment to produce the official Angry Birds parks that feature play and activity equipment inspired by the popular Angry Birds characters.

Traditionally a seasonal park, the new facility means Lightwater Valley is now able to extend its opening dates for visitors.

Allan Leech, CEO of Lightwater Valley, said: "In 2012 Angry Birds was the most popular paid-for app on Apple's App Store, so when we were looking at a £1 investment in creating a new attraction here at the park it was clearly a popular choice.

"We're already seeing an increase in advanced ticket sales and anticipate making a £2.5m impact to the region's economy over the next five years."
