The non-profit Nevada Zoological Foundation has received a US$15,000 grant from the San Diego Zoo to help begin renovation of one of its animal habitats at the Las Vegas Zoo that it operates.
The money will go towards either the Barbary Ape or Desert Tortoise exhibit - both of which need redevelopment work.
The 3-acre Las Vegas Zoo currently houses 150 species of plants and animals and officials estimate that the urgent revamps will cost at least US$50,000 to complete.
