Kimpton launches San Diego 'spa and arts' hotel
POSTED 04 Oct 2011 . BY Tom Walker
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has opened the doors to its Hotel Palomar San Diego in California, US.

The 183-bedroom hotel, formerly called the Sé Hotel, has received a complete redevelopment and rebrand of its facilities.

The hotel now offers a luxury spa and in-room spa services, a lavish roof deck lounge and infinity-edged pool, a 19-foot floor-to-ceiling ballroom and more than 20,000sq ft of event space decorated with the works by famous San Diego artists.

The hotel's Sé Spa has seven treatment rooms, each with private steam shower and changing area.

Other facilities include a rasul and the Studio Sutra - a hydrotherapy are offering a soaking tub, double steam shower and daybed for the "ultimate couple's treatments".

A Silk Lounge relaxation area is also available and can be hired for private spa parties and events.

Treatments at the spa include reflexology, shiatsu, body scrubs, facials and pedicures as well as rasul-based treatments.

As part of Kimpton's strategy to benefit from the hotel's location in the centre of San Diego's arts scene, the hotel will also serve as a gallery and stage for visual art, performing art, fashion, literature, dance and architecture.

From incorporating art throughout the hotel, to partnering up with local arts and cultural organizations on events and promotions, the hotel's Art in Motion theme connects with nearby institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego Opera, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Youth Symphony, House of Blues and many independent galleries.

One of the first programs in the works is collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The hotel will offer custom-tailored room packages featuring tickets to the museum.

Kimpton also plans to create similar marketing campaigns with the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory.

San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants was founded by Bill Kimpton in 1981 and the privately-owned company operates 53 hotels and 53 restaurants in 23 cities.
