French film and technology park Futuroscope has taken a pioneering approach to graphics to showcase a chilling new ride starring villains from the hit computer game Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Known as ‘La Machine à Voyager dans le Temps’ in France, the attraction opened in late December and has so far proved a hit.

The combination of 3D projections, various special effects and the latest interactive techniques was provided by Jora Entertainment, which collaborated with Jora Vision for the decor and with Jora Graphics for the visuals.

In the new attraction, visitors are taken on a journey through time, where they discover the influence of the dark Raving Rabbids.

Through clever use of the lighting and effects, Jora has created an attraction where visitors become frighteningly immersed in the world of the Rabbids.

Director of production Paul Nelissen said: “The Raving Rabbids are a big hit in France at the moment, and to let them really come to life in a dark ride was a huge challenge.”

“Thanks to the integration of special effects and technical tours de force, we have totally succeeded in this. Visitors really get to meet the “Raving Rabbids.”

The ride builds on the growing trend to move away from traditional ghost trains towards technically impressive horror attractions.

The movement was notably kickstarted by Saw - The Ride, which opened at Thorpe Park in 2009 as a custom Euro-Fighter roller coaster manufactured by Gerstlauer.
