Jeju Shinhwa World celebrating theme park launch
POSTED 02 Oct 2017 . BY Tom Anstey
Shinhwa Theme Park in Jeju Shinhwa World has been developed in collaboration with TUBAn, one of Korea’s premier animation companies
Jeju Shinhwa World, one of South Korea’s largest integrated resorts, has launched its latest new addition in the form of a major theme park development.

Called Shinhwa Theme Park, popular South Korean IPs Larva, Wingcle Bear, Buck, and Oscar – the creations of Seoul-based TUBAn Entertainment – have been used through the park.

The attraction is split into three themed zones – Larva's Adventure Village, Oscar's New World and Rotary Park. The new park offers 15 rides and attractions, themed exhibits and live performance areas.

“The opening of Shinhwa Theme Park signifies another key milestone for Jeju Shinhwa World, which sets to offer the first world-class leisure and entertainment facilities in Jeju,” said Dr. Yang Zhihui, chair and executive director of Landing International, the resort’s developer.

“With the opening of more facilities in Jeju Shinhwa World in the coming months, Jeju Shinhwa World is on track to become a world-class integrated destination resort that Jeju residents will be proud of.”

The wider US$1.8bn (€1.5bn, £1.35bn) Jeju Shinhwa World development opened its doors in April 2017. New developments continue to come up at the attraction, including a café, lounge and entertainment centre set to open next month, with design work by Korean pop celebrity G-Dragon. A fully-fledged Lionsgate theme park is also in the works for 2019, after plans were announced in August to develop the new attraction at the resort.

The resort will enjoy its official opening in December when remaining facilities including a Marriott Resort, restaurants and food streets, retail mall and a foreigners-only casino, open to the public.
PROJECT PROFILE:

Resorts World Jeju
Being jointly developed by Chinese property developer Landing International Development and Genting Singapore, Resorts World Jeju will cover 2.5sq km (1sq m) and will offer more than 20 different rides and attractions in seven different zones. Also included will be a waterpark and a themed food and retail complex. The resort’s premium hotels will have more than 2,000 rooms and will include Jeju’s first six-star hotel and a destination spa.

Location: Jeju , South Korea
Size: 2.5sq km
Budget: US$1.8bn
