India’s newest waterpark opens in picturesque Lonavala
POSTED 30 Mar 2016 . BY Alice Davis
An entertainment stage is situated in the wave pool at Wet N Joy waterpark, near Pune in India
A new waterpark, Wet N Joy, has opened its doors to the public in Lonavala, near Pune in Maharashtra state, India. The project is thought to be the largest water attraction in the country and marks a milestone for the waterpark industry’s development in the market.

Wet N Joy worked alongside WhiteWater West to create a park that includes a Master Blaster, India’s biggest wave pool (60,000sq ft), an entertainment stage and over 12,000sq ft of beach-themed space. WhiteWater also supplied a Wave River, an Extreme River, multiple waterslides including the company’s ever popular Rattler and Boomerango products, the high-adrenaline Freefall Body Slide and a 10,000sq ft interactive waterplay area.

The waterpark has been built by real estate developer Malpani Group, which owns a diversified portfolio of operations in education, health, finance, hospitality and tourism industries in India. The waterpark features a variety of F&B options, from restaurants and cafés to small food stalls, a rain dance floor and a cashless system.

Wet N Joy launched officially with a grand opening ceremony on 18 March with over 2,000 guests in attendance.

People in India – or at least in the region around Pune – could be set to embrace the waterpark, with recent openings including Adlabs Aquamagica in 2014, less than an hour away from Wet N Joy.
