Green Spa Network opens entries for sixth annual Sustainability Awards
POSTED 27 Sep 2017 . BY Tom Walker
Last year’s winners included Naturopathica Chelsea in New York, which received the Sustainable Spa Award for day spa
Entries are now being accepted for the Green Spa Network’s (GSN) sixth annual Sustainability Awards.

Launched in 2012, the awards have been launched to recognise sustainable and eco-friendly innovation and leadership by the spa industry.

“Proactively caring for the health of our planet and people is what the spa industry has always been about,” said Karen Short, president of GSN.

“By recognising the achievements in spa and sustainability, GSN elevates the awareness of success stories to inspire other businesses to create positive change.”

The public is encouraged to submit their recommendations of spa brands and leaders which are “practising sustainable responsibility”.

In total, seven winners will be picked across four different categories – Sustainable Building Award, Best Innovative Sustainability Initiative, Leadership in Sustainability Award and Sustainable Spa Brand Award.

The winners will be announced in December 2017 and will be featured at the 10th Anniversary Congress of the GSN, to be held between 11 and 14 March 2018 at Carmel Valley Ranch in California, US.

GSN has also revealed the judging panel for the 2017 awards – Debra Duneier, founder of EcoChi; Ulli Peck, owner of The Wellness Agency; Glenn Hasek, editor of Green Lodging News; Rona Berg, editor-in-chief of Organic Spa Magazine; and Julie Keller Callaghan, publisher of American Spa Magazine.

Last year’s winners included the Spa at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York, which was given the Sustainable Spa Award for a Resort or Destination Spa; and Naturopathica Chelsea in New York, which received the same award in the day spa category.
