Ford creates world-first driveable escape room
POSTED 22 Jun 2016 . BY Tom Anstey
Players will attempt to escape multiple rooms, using the technology and features of the 2017 Ford Escape to do so
Motoring company Ford is teaming up with puzzle master Victor Blake to create the first-ever driveable escape room.

Coming in 2017, the escape room driving experience integrates new technology from Ford’s upcoming SUV which will be demonstrated through its 35,000sq ft (3,250sq m) room, which sold out in less than 24 hours after 1,000 people signed up for the event in New York’s Moynihan Station.

Designed in collaboration with New York State’s ‘I love New York’ campaign, players will attempt to escape multiple rooms, using the technology and features of the 2017 Ford Escape to do so.

Essentially offering a test drive of the new vehicle, Ford will use the experience to try and connect with an audience of Millennial buyers using the escape room as its platform.

Ford will also integrate the Escape’s range of in-vehicle technologies through the attraction, with players sworn to secrecy on how the giant room plays out.

“Ford asked if I’d be up for integrating the new Escape into an Escape the Room game, and the end result is unlike anything I’ve created before,” said Victor Blake, founder of Escape the Room. “The SUV is packed with tons of advanced technology, and it was an entertaining exercise to integrate things like ultrasonic parking sensors into the puzzles and clues that are iconic to the game.”

‘Escape NYC: An Escape the Room Driving Experience’ takes place June 23-26. The sold-out event will also offer limited walk-in spots each day.
