Ensana unveils new programme dedicated to recovery after respiratory diseases
POSTED 12 Feb 2021 . BY Megan Whitby
Ensana's Nové Lázně health spa
Europe’s largest health spa operator Ensana has begun offering a seven-day Respiratory Recovery Programme at a select number of its Czech health spa hotels.

Launched in light of the pandemic, the holistic package is designed to slow down and minimise the progression of debilitating symptoms after respiratory diseases, such as COVID-19.

The programme is conducted by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and incorporates a combination of exercise, spa treatments and education.

According to Ensana, this treatment synergy aims to restore lung capacity and blood oxygen saturation levels, to help make breathing easier, strengthen the lungs and improve quality of life.

Guests’ journeys will begin with a medical check-up used to tailor their physio and pulmonary rehabilitation treatments throughout their stay. This assessment is repeated at the end of the programme to measure progress.

The package is anchored by daily physio treatments and testing, spirometry lung function tests and exercise under professional guidance.

Guests will also experience five sessions involving inhalation of local mineral water sourced from a natural forest spring and be offered free use of the hotels’ spa, sauna and fitness areas.

This is complemented by two dry CO2 baths, two natural mineral water baths, a classical partial massage, two electrotherapy sessions and two CO2 gas applications.

Ensana is offering the programme at Nové Lázně, Centrální Lázně and Hvězda in Mariánské Lázně, alongside longer packages at select other locations.

Guests at the three destinations above can also opt to incorporate a drinking cure of mineral spring water into their programme, following a doctor's recommendation.

The package has a starting cost of €630 (£553, US$762), including full board accommodation.
