The Dubai Tourism Development Company (DTDC) has announced that an AED 750m agreement has been signed with the Dubai-based Al Sharq Group concerning the development of the largest water resort in the Middle East as part of the $5bn Dubailand project.
The Aqua Dubai water park will cover 1million sq ft and feature over 60 water-based activities alongside a 500-room resort, a spa with specialised water therapy facilities, an aquarium and dolphinarium, museum and a virtual reality submarine ride.
Speaking about the agreement, director general of the Dubai Development and Investment Authority, Saeed Al Muntafiq, said: “Aqua Dubai will add value to Dubailand, the region’s largest and most comprehensive tourism, leisure and entertainment development and will offer the best in water-based entertainment facilities seen anywhere in the region, and most probably among the best in the world.”
Proprietor of the Al Sharq Group, Sheikh Ali Salman Al Shahri, added: “We are pleased to invest in Dubailand, this being one of the biggest investments by the company in Dubai.
