Birmingham science centre Thinktank has been selected to host the UK screening of NASA’s Deep Impact mission.
On 4 July, a projectile will be fired at the Comet Tempel 1 and a global network of ground-based telescopes will analyse and observe the comet to see what changes occur before and after impact.
Thinktank will screen the event live, directly from NASA.
Thinktank’s Planetarium manager, Mario Di Maggio, said: “We’re delighted to be selected as the English centre for such a historical event. This goes to prove that Birmingham really is on the world map and is respected for its contribution to science.” Details: www.thinktank.ac
