The water cascades at Cragside Gardens & Estate in Rothbury, Northumberland, will flow for the first time in nearly 90 years on 17 July, following a £6m regeneration project.
Former owner Lord Armstrong designed the original cascades in the 1870s as part of a rock garden at the front of his house. They were regarded as one of the most dramatic water features of the 19th century.
The waterfalls were last used in the 1920s and over the years the garden disappeared beneath a variety of shrubs.
The restoration project cleared 4.5 acres (2 hectares) of overgrown land and used more than 500 boulders from the estate to recreate the cascades.
Foliage, including ferns and azaleas, will be planted around the cascades during the next 12 months. Details: www.nationaltrust.co.uk
