Low-cost airliner EasyJet is calling for the introduction of a new green efficiency tax, to replace the current UK air passenger duty (APD).
The Luton-based company wants to see APD replaced with a tax based on types of aircraft and the distance travelled and claims the current tax doesn’t reflect the emissions of a flight.
The call comes as the carrier reported a 17.8 per cent increase in year-on-year passengers numbers for August.
