InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) opened its first themed hotel at the Merlin Entertainment-owned Chessington World of Adventures in South West London on 4 July.

The 150-room hotel, which includes 56 family rooms, is called Holiday Inn London-Chessington and is located by the zoo and landscaped gardens.

The hotel will feature a leisure club with indoor pool, a restaurant and a bar, as well as six function rooms.

Alexi Hakim, IHG’s chief operating officer for UK & Ireland, said: “I am thrilled about the opening of the hotel and the exciting opportunity it represents for both IHG and Merlin Entertainment.

“This is also the first time we’ve had a themed hotel and we anticipate that our guests will greatly enjoy the benefits of being located next to one of Europe’s most popular theme parks.”
