Private equity group Candover is rumoured to be reconsidering its plans to float Parques Reunidos, the theme park group it acquired in 2007.
Candover, which acquired Parques Reunidos for €900m (then worth £590m, US$1.1bn) in January 2007, had signalled its intention to launch an initial public offering of the company some time next year.
It is understood, however, that a number of other private equity groups are considering bids to take over the Spain-based group, which operates theme parks, aquariums and zoos across Europe.
Candover currently values Parques Reunidos at around €2bn (US$2.5bn, £1.66bn).
Other leisure-related investments in Candover's portfolio include stakes in UK-based gaming and casino group Gala Coral and fitness equipment supplier Technogym.
