The London borough of Camden is relaunching the concept of ‘Museum Mile’ in an effort to increase visits to cultural attractions during the busy run-up to Christmas.
Most inbound tourists visiting the capital during December spend their time trawling round shops in and around Oxford Street, and Camden Council wants to see some of the traffic diverted into museums and galleries.
Mayor of Camden, Dawn Somper, said: “This event is a fantastic opportunity to promote Camden’s cultural offerings to visitors and residents alike.
“Museum Mile has the largest concentration of museums and galleries in the UK and most of them can be visited for free.”
The mile runs from Euston Road to the River Thames and contains 13 museums and galleries ranging from the British Museum to the newly launched Charles Dickens Museum.
