The new attraction - marking one of the key moments leading to the American Revolution - is double the size of its predecessor, which opened in 1973 but has since been demolished due to fire.
Visitors will be transported back to the late 18th century at the museum, which includes two historically accurate sailing vessels - the
Beaver and the

Dartmouth - will arrive at the museum in 2014, with all three representing the full complement of ships which originally took part in the Boston Tea Party.
A series of interactive exhibits and re-enactments will bring history alive through a layered experience, which comprises a number of elements both in the museum and aboard the ships.
A museum spokesperson said: "On the ships, guests will have the opportunity to actually throw the tea crates overboard as their act of defiance of George III's Taxation without Representation."
