Sea World on Australia’s Gold Coast has welcomed new arrivals to its dolphin family with mother and daughter dolphins both recently giving birth.
The two new calves were each approximately one metre in length and weighed 15 kilos at birth.
Director of Marine Sciences Trevor Long said the third generation calf is extremely unique.
“This third generation breeding is a testament to Sea World’s animal husbandry expertise,” he said.
The newborns and their mothers can be seen in residence at Sea World’s Dolphin Nursery. The park will be running educational talks twice daily at 12 noon and 2.45pm at the dolphin nursery for the duration of the school holidays.
