Adventure World in Perth, Australia, opened an AUS$1.5m (£639,000, 926,000 euro, US$1.1m) six-lane ride on 3 December.

With speeds of up to 70km an hour, the Aqua Super 6 Racer slide is the sixth ride to have been installed at the park within the past four years.

Adventure World chief executive Andrew Sharry said: “This 11m (377ft) slide pumps over 90 litres of water per minute, but the most unique aspect of the ride is its ability to rank riders at the finish line.

“Sensors placed at the finish line can place riders within an accuracy of 1/1000th of a second. But don’t even consider cheating, as the slide can detect if a rider has jumped the gun, and places them last!” Details: www.adventureworld.net.au
