Pirates of Bacalar takes riders on a thrilling adventure on the Caribbean Sea |
|
Dynamic media-based attractions specialist Simworx has announced that it will supply an updated version of its Immersive Tunnel ride for the highly-anticipated Amikoo Resort Park in Mexico.
Expected in March 2019 the Piratas de Bacalar (Pirates of Bacalar) ride will form part of the park's initial phase.
Amikoo Park will feature 24 attractions, restaurants and live shows spread across four Mayan-themed lands: Park Maya Extreme, Maya Adventure, Maya Discovery and Amikoo Land.
The park will also play host to the Amikoo Resort Collection and Amikoo Downtown, the home of the Simworx Piratas de Bacalar Immersive Tunnel ride.
Based on the history of pirates in Mexico, Pirates of Bacalar takes riders on a thrilling adventure on the Caribbean Sea, where they will defend the San Felipe Bacalar Fort from pirates.
The ride is an updated version of Simworx’ Immersive Tunne ridel, it features a 60-seat, 3DOF motion base and a 7m screen and a 4k AV solution.
It will feature extensive theming to look like a pirate galleon, designed by Dutch design firm Jora Vision, and will be set in a water basin to simulate the sensation of sailing on the sea. It will also incorporate special effects, including wind and water effects to elevate the experience.
Additionally the ride will include an exhibition about the history of piracy in Mexico.
Simworx sales director Edward Pawley says: "It will be a standalone attraction within the resort and will be a 50-minute experience, with a series of pre-shows leading up to the main ride element. What’s unique about it is that it’s not a standard Immersive Tunnel but something new with the 60-seat motion base and seven metre high screen. There will also be a restaurant and retail outlets in the same building and we are due to have the ride installed by March 2019."
Pawley adds: "Simworx will be the main supplier for the attraction but we have brought on Jora Vision for the theming elements."

Small Footprint, Big Significance: Studio City Water Park |
|
Long known for its fancy casinos, Macau realized within the past decade that it must
diversify its tourism scene to attract new crowds. With the ambition of becoming the
leisure hub of China’s 72-million strong Greater Bay Area, the city began adding shows,
attractions, and family-friendly hotels. But the offering that truly stands out with fun
for everyone is Studio City Water Park – Macau’s first stand-alone water park, with all
the water slides and aquatic play structures supplied by WhiteWater. |

The experience economy, driven by evolving consumer trends, is poised for continued growth
in the coming years. Millennials have been at the forefront of this shift, favouring
memorable experiences over material possessions. This preference has extended to other
