Scruffy Dog and Merlin Magic Making (MMM) have teamed up to design Drachenzähmen – Die Insel, How To Train Your Dragon – The Island.
The designer has completely re-imaged an existing site space at Merlin’s Heide Park Resort in Germany.
Using the existing landscape of the space on site, Scruffy Dog and MMM were able to use variants of heights and floor levels to replicate the organic terrain of Berk Island where the animated films by DreamWorks are set.
The land features three different ‘flying rides’ where guests can step into the shoes of a Berk Viking and experience Dragon Training for themselves in bespoke ride carriages that capture certain species of dragon, designed by Scruffy Dog.
Berk Mountain itself is a 15 metre high themed structure at the centre of the Viking Boat Ride where adventurers can venture into the dark Dragon Caves to meet and help Hiccup, Toothless and their friends.
Alongside MMM, Scruffy Dog also designed the Retail Area, creating a full 3D model replicating Hiccup's blacksmith workshop along with a few dragon surprises.

Small Footprint, Big Significance: Studio City Water Park |
|
Long known for its fancy casinos, Macau realized within the past decade that it must
diversify its tourism scene to attract new crowds. With the ambition of becoming the
leisure hub of China’s 72-million strong Greater Bay Area, the city began adding shows,
attractions, and family-friendly hotels. But the offering that truly stands out with fun
for everyone is Studio City Water Park – Macau’s first stand-alone water park, with all
the water slides and aquatic play structures supplied by WhiteWater. |
