Efteling partners with Aardman on new 4D theatre attraction
POSTED 14 May 2019 . BY Andy Knaggs
Fabula is the story of a grumpy young bear's journey to a more enlightened view of the world around him
Aardman Animations, the British animation studio behind much-loved shows such as Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, has partnered with Efteling to create a newly-renovated 4D theatre attraction at the Dutch fairytale theme park.

The new show – called Fabula – replaces PandaDroom, a theatre and restaurant area that opened in 2002 in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund. Fabula will also have a restaurant, with more seating and a new menu, and will feature Aardman's first major piece of content for a theme park environment.

The Fabula movie is a 3D film with 4D effects, created in collaboration with Efteling, and telling the story of a grumpy young bear that is taken on a magical tour of different habitats by the mythical Klaas Vaak (aka Mr Sandman), learning along the way to be more respectful of other animals.

Fons Jurgens, CEO at Efteling, said that working with Aardman to produce Fabula had allowed it to "combine the latest in film and animation technology with a humorous and dynamic film that also teaches important moral lessons".

The renovated attraction cost €3.5m (US$3.93m, £3.04m) to put together. Centred on nature, it has a pre-show, main show and a play area where guests can play and eat in savanna, ocean and jungle themed areas.
