Revenues up at Macquarie parks
POSTED 29 May 2008 . BY Tim Nash
Macquarie Leisure Trust, which owns and operates the Dreamworld theme park and adjacent WhiteWater World water park on Australia’s Gold Coast, has reported increased revenues at both parks for the nine months to 31 March 2008.

At Dreamworld, revenues were up 6 per cent to AUS$73.44m, attendances increased by 3.8 per cent and per capita expenditure rose by 2.2 per cent to AUS$64.93.

WhiteWater World saw revenues of AUS$14.4m in the nine month period, compared with AUS$6.08m from its opening on 8 December 2006 to 31 March 2007 – up 15.8 per cent on a like for like basis.

Group chief executive officer, Greg Shaw, said he was very pleased with the Dreamworld results given the poor weather in south Queensland during the third quarter.

He added that WhiteWater World had performed strongly with “significant success in the local market and a growing clientele of corporate groups”.

“WhiteWater World also achieved an impressive operating margin of 49.6 per cent through maximising the benefits associated with Dreamworld co-location ad cost synergies available through utilisation of Dreamworld’s management and marketing strengths,” he said.

Macquarie’s leisure assets also include d’Albora Marinas, AMF Bowling centres, Main Event and Goodlife Health Clubs.
