The three "Retro Squad" rides will be themed according to 80s designs
Flat rides will be located in different areas of the park
Alton Towers says retro experiences are different to anything they offer in the theme park
Alton Towers theme park in the UK will offer visitors the opportunity to indulge in some 80s nostalgia when it launches three "retro" rides this month.
Collectively known as the "The Retro Squad", the trio of pop-up rides are called Roller Disco, Mixtape and Funk'n'fly and will be available to guests when the park reopens to the public on 12 April.
The three are different types of flat rides, with the Roller Disco located in the park's Dark Forest area, the Mixtape in the X-Sector and the Funl'n'Fly in the Forbidden Valley.
See a video below of the three new rides:
Francis Jackson, General Manager at Alton Towers Resort, said: “The new retro experiences are different to anything we offer in the theme park.
"We have introduced a series of new outdoor attractions which are included in the price of a theme park ticket offering guests a nostalgic spin-back to the 80s, which provides an exciting addition which we’re sure our guests will love."
UK theme parks have been advised to take action to prevent future deaths, following the conclusion
of an inquest into the accidental death of Evha Jannath at Drayton Manor in 2017.
Theme park operator Merlin Entertainments has announced half-yearly results up to the end of June
2019, showing a return to growth for its Midway Attractions and Resort Theme Parks divisions, and
revenue growth of 6.5 per cent compared to the first half of 2018 across the company.
Numbers from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, (ALVA) show that Royal attractions
saw a huge increase in visitor numbers during 2023 – the coronation year of King Charles III.
Off the back of the success of the first round of Everyday Heritage Grants in 2022, Historic
England is funding 56 creative projects that honour the heritage of working-class England.
Universal has revealed it will be adding new Harry Potter attractions, alongside Super Nintendo
and How to Train Your Dragon worlds to its Florida resort.
Cruise Ship Interiors (CSI) invites cruise lines, shipyards, design studios, outfitters,
and suppliers to take part in CSI Design Expo Americas in Miami, Florida, the region’s only
event dedicated to cruise ship interior design. [more...]
