Dubai's Museum of the Future seeks new technologies with accelerator programme
POSTED 31 May 2018 . BY Tom Anstey
Architect Shaun Killa of Dubai-based practice Killa Design has imagined the ring-shaped Museum of the Future
Dubai's upcoming Museum of the Future has launched a new scheme designed to catch the eye of technology companies offering futuristic solutions for visitor experiences.

The accelerator programme will see 15 companies flown to Dubai to demonstrate innovative technologies, develop pilot project proposals and compete for funded projects that could be used in the future within the museum.

Set to open by the end of next year, the Museum of the Future is being created to showcase real experiences of futuristic technologies to its visitors. The accelerator focuses on three specific areas – Advanced Wearable Devices, AI Guides and Social Companions, and the VR/AR Experience.

"We invite all the selected companies to come to Dubai to test and showcase their most innovative technologies," said Dr. Noah Raford, COO and futurist-in-chief at the Dubai Future Foundation.

"If you have a product or a solution which you think might help us solve the challenges that are part of the accelerator's programme, we look forward to your application and if successful, welcoming you to Dubai to help build the future together."

Architect Shaun Killa of Dubai-based practice Killa Design has imagined the ring-shaped Museum of the Future. The giant steel-clad structure will be covered in the poetry of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates.

The attraction will continuously change exhibits every six months to keep pace with changing trends in technology, with the overarching aim to “always be 10 years ahead of today.”

Successful companies for the accelerator programme will be flown to Dubai and provided with accommodation for six weeks, where they will be given access to the Dubai Future Foundation's cutting-edge technologies. The deadline for applications in 9 June.
