Pulse partners with FA and Sport England to open gym and football hub
POSTED 13 Sep 2017 . BY Deven Pamben
Pulse Soccer advised the FA on the park’s 100-station gym and two group fitness studios
St George’s Park Westfield - the third hub of the FA Parklife Programme - will officially open next week (Monday 18 September) in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, boasting football facilities and a two-floor fitness suite that has been kitted out by the Pulse Group.

The site will be operated by the charitable trust Leisure United, in partnership with The FA, Sheffield City Council, Sport England and Pulse Soccer, a division of the Pulse Group.

Pulse Soccer advised the FA on the park’s 100-station gym and two group fitness studios, which will offer classes including yoga, pilates and body pump. Pre-opening membership, with classes, costs £16.99 (US$22.56, €18.85) per month. The gym revenue will help make the site financially viable and sustainable.

The FA appointed Pulse Fitness to design the gym and to supply and install equipment from its cardio and strength lines. The gym has also been kitted out with free-weights and a bespoke functional training rig.

With two full-sized all-weather pitches and a grass pitch, pay and play football sessions and five-a-side, seven-a-side and 11-a-side football leagues will be available on site. Leisure United will also be running junior football leagues, ladies only football sessions, disability classes and walking football.

Pulse Solutions will be responsible for sales and marketing of the facility and brand development of the gym.

Pulse Soccer already acts as the strategic leisure development partner to the FA, Sheffield City Council and Leisure United at the two other hubs in the city, St George’s Park Graves and St George’s Park Thorncliffe.

“We’ve already seen some fantastic success at our other two sites, with more people getting involved in football at a grassroots level and the new gym will be a fantastic edition to the local community,” said Warren Ormrod, director of soccer for the Pulse Group. “We are delighted to have been appointed by the FA as their preferred kit supplier on this project and look forward to supporting them on this journey.”

The Parklife Programme aims to get more people involved in football at a grassroots level, underpinned by financially sustainable facilities.
