The Ivy Collection secures 'exceptional' new location by London's Tower Bridge

Luxury restaurant brand the Ivy Collection is to open a new brasserie located next to London’s famous Tower Bridge.

The new Ivy will become the first flagship restaurant of the One Tower Bridge development – a mixed-use scheme, masterplanned by architects Squire and Partners, featuring apartments and 80,000sq ft (7,400sq m) of leisure and cultural space.

While architectural details have not yet been released, One Tower Bridge developer Berkeley Homes confirmed to CLAD that the brasserie will be 8,000sq ft (740sq m) and feature a terrace overlooking Potters Fields Park and the River Thames, with “exceptional views” of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.

The signing follows last year’s announcement of a new 900-seat theatre at One Tower London which will be run by The London Theatre Company, led by the former National Theatre leaders Sir Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr.

Planning consent and funding have now been secured for the theatre – which will be constructed by engineering consultancy Meinhardt UK – with an anticipated opening in summer 2017.

“The Ivy brasserie will perfectly complement the highly anticipated new 900-seat theatre and we look to forward to working with these, and other high quality operators across the development's retail offerings to create London’s newest cultural and dining destination,” said Harry Lewis, managing director of Berkeley Homes’ South East London office.

“These recent signings mark a significant move to establishing this heritage location as the Covent Garden of the South Bank.”

One Tower Bridge’s other leisure components include a gymnasium and fitness centre, a spa, a vitality pool, a virtual golf facility and a new 70-bedroom boutique hotel operated by hotelier The LaLIT. The site will be surrounded by public realm, including a riverfront walkway and landscaped piazzas.

Meinhardt and Squire and Partners are also collaborating on a fully-interactive scale model of central London, including thousands of moving buses, taxis, trains and boats. The Little London attraction, which is being billed as the city's biggest new permanent visitor destination since the London Eye, will occupy 65,000sq ft (6,000sq m) across two floors.

The Ivy Collection is owned by Caprice Holdings, which has had a busy few months. The group opened lavishly-decorated seafood restaurant Sexy Fish in London late last year and has recently unveiled plans to relaunch renowned nightclub Annabel’s with a range of leisure and wellness facilities.
