Warner Village Theme Parks (WVTP) has unveiled further details of its continuing AUS$20m (e12.5m, £8.5m, US$16m) investment in Wet’n’Wild Water World on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Further to the opening next month of the Buccaneer Bay kids’ zone, at the end of the year the park will unveil Extreme H2O Zone – a new thrill slide area.
Located behind Calypso Beach, the new area will include seven oversized thrill rides. Mach V will boast two 160m (525ft) open air flumes and three high speed body slides, while Blackhole will feature two enclosed spiral rides.
In 2006, the zone will also see the opening of a further thrill ride, Tornado, a 40m (130ft) long tunnel into the middle of a ‘storm’.
“The park’s popularity has sky-rocketed over the past few years due to its reputation as one of the best waterparks in the world,” said John Menzies, WVTP’s CEO. ”We’re committed to holding this position by continuing to introduce new and exciting attractions.” Details: www.wetnwild.com.au
