Scope of Job:
SLA Operations Team Lead acts as a point of contact between associate MCs and the Area Lead. Works alongside associates and may provide breaks and meal periods. Requires high visibility in the Aquarium and needs to be very accessible to the team to handle issues as they surface. Supports the Area Lead and Department Supervisors in the day to day running of the area and in maintaining the high standards of SLA operation. Perform 60 shifts as needed.

Main Responsibilities:
Operations
1. Trains new MCs as well as certifies and signs off new MCs on positions such as admissions, SoCal, and shark station.

2. Under the direction of the Area Lead, may be responsible for scheduling, payroll, coaching, aquarium shows, guest interaction, contributing to performance reviews, observing and providing feedback on compliance to company policies such as attendance, wardrobe and grooming.

3. Under the direction of the Area Lead and/or Supervisors, may be directed to monitor budgeted hours, daily scheduling and organizing breaks and meal periods.

4. Available in the area to deal with crowd control or guest issues as well as to handle area issues as they surface.

5. Supports the Area Lead and Supervisors and assists in the communication of all relevant department and company information.

6. Observes MCs and provides feedback to Area Lead/Supervisors on counselling issues, reward potential, and performance reviews. May provide on the spot coaching to MCs as needed, records activity in the MC contact logs.

7. Walks the Aquarium upon arrival, periodically throughout the day and at end of shift to establish areas of focus for the team. Spends time in the areas to ensure operating procedures are followed at all times.

8. Leads and assists with all opening procedures in designated areas, and ensures that the areas have been properly stocked and MC checklists are completed at start of day and end of the day. Completes end of day procedures with the team and communicates with Area Lead/Supervisors when area has closed. Informs of any irregularities that need to be taken care of before next day opening.

9. Communicates any faults, safety issues or staffing problems to Area Lead/Supervisor.

10. Maintains safety and well-being of all animals, in touch pools specifically, while in and out of tanks.

11. Able to make decisions to provide the best environment for every animal and guest.

12. Function as 60 as needed.
