The Walt Disney Company's Shamrock Holdings investment division has joined with Ramat HaSharon, Israel-based New Lineo Cinemas to develop an amusement park and 25-screen cinema multiplex in Haifa, Israel.
The NIS600m (£109m) project will occupy a 20-acre site near the Check Post exit of the city's Carmel Tunnel and include 50,000sq m (538,195sq ft) of cinemas and shops, in addition to a 30,000sq m (323,000sq ft) Disney amusement park.
The new complex, with a proposed opening date of 2013, will be near the Cinemall, which contains shops and a 23-screen Yes Planet multiplex operation.
Avi Edery, deputy CEO of New Lineo said: "The project reflects our goal of providing quality entertainment for the people of Israel."
New Lineo already operates the Cinema City multiplex sites in Ramat HaSharon, north of Tel Aviv and with 25 screens, and Rishon LeZion, south of Tel Aviv and with 26 screens.
