Go Select Pass, a new mobile system to allow people to access attractions using smartphone, has been launched in four US cities - Boston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
Smart Destinations has created the new paperless system, which allows tourists to select and build reduced-price passes online for specific visitor attractions.
Each additional attraction 'selected' will see visitors save more money on entry prices, with a QR code then sent as a PDF via email that can be scanned in for entry at ticket offices.
Smart Destinations president and founder Cecilia Dahl said: "Smartphones are changing consumer behaviour. Once we saw what these devices are doing for individuals, couples, and parents with young children, it was clear where we wanted to go.
"No one else can offer this kind of end-to-end convenience because no other company has the infrastructure in the field that Smart Destinations does."
Go Select Pass scanners are currently in operation at more than 275 US attractions and can let operators instantly validate QR codes from smartphones using the internet.
