Gardaland announces Legoland Water Park opening date and new attractions
POSTED 24 Jan 2020 . BY Lauren Heath-Jones
Europe's first Legoland Water Park is set to open at the Gardaland resort in Lake Garda, Italy, later this year, with the new attraction set to become the first Legoland Water Park to open in a non-Legoland destination when it opens on 28 May.

Located near the Peppa Pig Land and Fantasy Kingdom areas of the resort, the park, which is made from millions of Lego bricks, will span 15,000sq m (160,000sq ft) and will be home to several different themed lands, such as the Lego Creation Island, Beach Party, Duplo Splash, Jungle Adventure, Pirate Bay and Miniland, as well as a Lego shop and the Harbour restaurant.

Dedicated to play and creativity, the Lego Creation Island will offer 'hours of guaranteed building fun', with thousands of Duplo and Lego bricks for guests to play with, while Beach Party will feature play areas and water slides, as well as water cannons.

Designed for younger guests, Duplo Splash will have a number of smaller water slides and will teach visitors about the different types of aquatic animals from around the world. Jungle Adventure will have an array of family-friendly waterslides, while Pirate Bay will have a large swimming pool and relaxation areas.

Attractions will include the Lego River Adventure, a lazy river ride, encircling the park, that guests will sail down on customisable rafts, while the Miniland area will play host to 100 Lego replicas of iconic Italian landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Milan Cathedral, Saint Mark's Basilica and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

"Legoland Water Park Gardaland will have so many attractions that visitors will be thrilled, whether young or old," said Luca Marigo, sales and marketing director at Gardaland

"There will also be themed areas with lots of colourful water slides for youngsters and kids of all ages, as well as a creative area where children can discover the fun of building with Duplo and Lego bricks, swimming pools with sunbeds, deck chairs and gazebos where families can relax."

Gardaland has also announced a host of new attractions for the 2020 season, which will begin on 28 March 2020, including a new cinema experience: Wonder Woman - The 4D Experience.

Billed as 'high-impact' and 'electrifying', the new Wonder Woman experience takes guests on a thrilling adventure with Wonder Woman herself, as she tries to protect humanity from the horrors of the Second World War.

Other new attractions will include the Gardaland Awards - Life is a Movie, a live musical celebrating films such as Moulin Rouge, La La Land and The Bodyguard, the 44 Gatti (44 Cats) Rock Show and the Aqua Fantasia - Storie di acqua, luci e colori (Stories of water, light and colours), a spectacular water and light show combining dancing fountains, water jets, light effects and music.
The park will cover 15,000sq m (160,000sq ft)
Features will include slides, pools and a water play complex
Millions of Lego bricks will be used as part of the construction
The Gardaland resort is located close to Lake Garda in Italy
